The Bonne Bay Health Centre is ideally located in the town of Norris Point and is a state of the art modern health facility serving the whole region, an estimated 5000 people. The facility includes 14 long term care beds, 8 acute care beds, and 2 observation beds. It has Outpatient Department Clinics, Laboratory and X-ray Services, Physiotherapy services and 24 hour Emergency Services. The Ambulance Service that services the facility is privately operated. The major hospital in Western Newfoundland – Western Memorial Regional Hospital is located close by in Corner Brook.

The Bonne Bay Health Centre operates satellite medical clinics at Trout River, Woody Point, Cow Head, Parsons Pond and Daniel’s Harbour. The physicians at these clinics share weekend call at the Health Centre and people from their communities are encouraged to use the hospital on the weekend. The district doctors are able to dispense drugs from their clinics and do refer patients to the hospital for assessment when possible.

There are two physicians on staff as well as a private practice physician in the community. The satellite clinics in the surrounding communities also benefit from the services of a nurse practitioner.

Built in 2001 The Bonne Bay Health Centre is equipped with modern equipment and furnishings and the latest in fire protection. The building is also fully wheelchair accessible, very energy efficient and built to the latest building codes and standards.

The facility was built to replace an older hospital in the area. The old Bonne Bay Hospital was one of the few remaining cottage hospitals in operation until the new facility was opened.
